
Men's Volleyball Splits In Santa Barbara

The UCLA men's volleyball team split its first two matches Thursday on the opening day of competition in the 46th annual Santa Barbara Invitational.
UCLA won its morning match against UC San Diego, but lost the nightcap to BYU. Both matches went five games.
Game scores to the second match were 30-26, 24-30, 27-30, 30-24, 15-11 in favor of BYU.
The Bruins defeated the Tritons 30-24, 24-30, 26-30, 31-29, 15-8.
For the day, senior outside hitter Garrett Muagututia recorded 31 kills, including 18 against UCSD. His 13 kills led UCLA in the second match, and he also served three aces.
Junior Dylan Bowermaster added 10 kills off the bench against BYU, followed by nine kills apiece from sophomores Nick Vogel and Jeremy Casebeer. Libero Tom Hastings added 12 digs.
On Friday, UCLA meets Cal Baptist at 4 p.m. to decide third place.
