The top-ranked UCLA women's golf team took over first place at the 24th Pac-10 Women's Golf Championship Tuesday at the Eugene Country Club.

On a dreary, wet and cold day, the Bruins prevailed best against the elements and posted a team score of 298 (+10) for a 36-hole score of 587 (+11). They led second-place Arizona (590, +14) by three shots. Cal was third at 592 (+16), followed by USC in fourth place at 594 (+18). Host Oregon was fifth at 599 (+23), Washington was sixth at 610 (+34) and Stanford was seventh at 617 (+41). Oregon State was eighth at 646 (+70) and Washington State was ninth at 647 (+71).

First-round leader and second-ranked Arizona State was disqualified from the team competition because two of its players -- Jennifer Johnson and Guilia Molinaro -- withdrew because of illness.

Individually for the Bruins, sophomore Stephanie Kono moved into a tie for first place at 143 (-1) after posting a one-over par 73 on Tuesday. Freshman Tiffany Lua carded UCLA's best score, an even par 72, and was tied for fourth at 145 (+1). Tied for 18th place at 150 (+6) were senior Sydnee Michaels and junior Glory Yang. Both players signed for scores of 77 (+5). Sophomore Brianna Do was tied for 23rd at 152 (+8) after posting her second straight 76.

Kono was tied with Arizona State's Carlota Ciganda, who posted a 72 (E) in the second round.
