Los Angeles, Calif. - Freshman midfielder Kelyn Rowe scored a pair of second-half goals to give UCLA a 2-0 win over Davidson on Sunday afternoon at Drake Stadium.

UCLA (3-1), which handed Davidson (2-1-2) its first loss of the season, came alive in the second half, outshooting the Wildcats by a 14-4 count and 17-10 overall in the game. The Bruins broke the scoreless tie in the 58th minute when Shawn Singh lofted a pass to Rowe, who hit a right-footed strike to the left corner for his first collegiate goal at the 57:31 mark.

The Bruins had a few other chances to extend the lead, but Davidson goalkeeper Chip Sanders made three saves on shots by Singh and Victor Chavez. UCLA goalkeeper Brian Rowe made a nice save of his own at 65:07, stopping a shot by Andrew DiLallo. In the 69th minute, UCLA nearly made it 2-0 after Victor Chavez powered past Davidson defenders towards goal and sent a nifty pass to Evan Raynr. Raynr fired a shot that hit the top of the crossbar and came out right in front of the goal on the left side, but Eder Arreola's follow-up header clanged off the post.

Rowe added to his scoring tally with his second goal of the game at 76:08, taking a pass from Raynr, dribbling through the defense and firing a shot to the left corner in nearly the same spot as his first goal. Raynr and Zack Zerrenner picked up assists on the play.

Brian Rowe earned his second shutout of the season, making four saves on the day. Sanders had seven saves in 89 minutes of action for Davidson.

The Bruins will next take on Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo on Friday, Sept. 17 at 7 pm before hosting San Diego on Sunday, Sept. 19 at 2 pm.
