LOS ANGELES - The sixth-ranked UCLA men's tennis team earned a spot in next month's USTA/ITA National Team Indoors on Saturday evening, posting a 4-1 victory over Florida State during ITA Kick-Off Weekend at the Los Angeles Tennis Center. The Bruins (4-0) will be one of 16 teams at the event, which runs from Feb. 18-21 in Seattle, Wash.

UCLA gutted out a tough doubles point on Saturday, taking wins at court Nos. 2 and 3 to clinch a 1-0 lead heading into singles play. After UCLA's Alex Brigham and Holden Seguso posted an 8-6 win at the No. 2 spot, freshmen Daniel Kosakowski and Clay Thompson secured the point for the Bruins, notching an 8-6 win over Andres Bucaro and Anderson Reed at the No. 3 position.

Despite the momentum from doubles, UCLA actually fell behind early in singles, with Maxime Tabatruong and Thompson dropping quick 6-0 sets in their matches at court Nos. 3 and 4, respectively. In fact, UCLA won first sets on only three of six courts. The match was eventually tied 1-1 when Florida State's Connor Smith, Tabatruong's opponent, posted a 6-0, 6-2 win.

Despite Florida State's surge, UCLA eventually managed to take a 3-1 lead following straight-set wins by Kosakowski (court No. 1) and Seguso (court No. 6). With the three remaining matches still extremely close, Bruin freshman Adrien Puget ended the suspense, as he pulled out a 6-1, 7-6(4) victory over Reed at court No. 5 to give UCLA the 4-1 win.

When play was suspended, Thompson was down 1-2 in the third set at court No. 4, and Amit Inbar was facing a match point in the second set at court No. 2.
