
Bruins Swept by Cougars

The 5th ranked UCLA men's volleyball team fell once again to the BYU Cougars by the score of 3-0 at Smith Fieldhouse in Provo, Utah.
The Bruins dropped both games of a two-game set to the Cougars and are now 7-5 on the year and 2-4 in MPSF play. By contrast, BYU improved to 6-2 in conference play and 9-2 overall. Game scores were 25-21, 27-25, 25-20.
After BYU took the first set, UCLA hung tough and had a chance to even the match at one apiece by going up 24-21 in the second set. However, the Cougars fought off three set points and eventually went on to win the set 27-25. They would ultimately take the third set 25-20 to complete the sweep of the Bruins.
Freshman Robart Page led the Bruins again with 9 kills and 4 digs in the loss. Junior Weston Dunlap added 7 kills and 2 block assists while freshman Gonzalo Quiroga had 5 kills on the night. Setter Alex Scattareggia recorded 21 assists and 4 digs as well.
Overall, the Bruins hit just .183 as a team while the Cougars hit .321. Robb Stowell led the Cougars again with 17 kills.
UCLA will be back on the court on Wednesday, February 9th, against the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos at Pauley Pavilion at 7:00 p.m. PT.
