LOS ANGELES - The No. 16 UCLA men's tennis team swept doubles play and then posted six straight-set singles wins to blank Oregon, 7-0 in a Pac-10 Conference showdown at the Los Angeles Tennis Center on Saturday.
UCLA (13-4; 2-2 Pac-10) got off to a quick start, claiming the doubles point when Alex Brigham and Adrien Puget downed Robin Cambier and Alex Rovello, 8-4 at court No. 1. The Bruins also cruised to 8-1 and 8-5 wins at court Nos. 2 and 3, respectively.
After pulling out a tight first set, freshman Daniel Kosakowski notched yet another win at the No. 1 position on Saturday, downing Rovello, 7-5, 6-0. Fellow freshman Clay Thompson was also victorious, notching a 7-5, 6-1 win over Cambier at court No. 3.
The most complete performance of the afternoon came at court No. 6, where Warren Hardie dropped just two games en route to a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Douglas Mayeda.
UCLA's next match is another home contest against Arizona on Friday at 1:30 p.m.
