
Bruins Take Down Tigers 3-0; Wrap Up MPSF Playoff Berth

The 7th ranked UCLA men's volleyball team got back to their winning ways by defeating the Pacific Tigers 3-0 at the John Wooden Center.
The Bruins improved to 16-11 on the year and are now 9-10 in MPSF play. In addition, with UC San Diego's loss on Thursday the Bruins wrapped up the final MPSF playoff spot. Game scores were 25-19, 25-19 and 25-22.
Freshman Gonzalo Quiroga set career highs in aces with 6 and points with 22.5 in the sweep of the Tigers. He currently leads the team with 262 kills and 321.0 points on the year. Freshman Robart Page also had a stellar performance, recording 8 kills and a career-high 4 aces in the victory. Junior Thomas Amberg contributed with 8 kills as well while junior Weston Dunlap continued to hit a high percentage in matches, hitting .312 on the night. Dunlap has hit .300 or better in 22 of the 27 matches played and also leads the MPSF conference in hitting percentage.
Overall, the Bruins hit .358 as a team while the Tigers hit just .250. UCLA also served 12 aces in the match while allowing none to the visitors. Florian Gornik led Pacific with 11 kills.
The Bruins will be back on the court on Saturday, April 9th against the Stanford Cardinal for their final home match of the year. Gametime is slated for 7:00 p.m. PT at the John Wooden Center, and during the match UCLA will honor the members of its senior class while also recognizing the 1971 and 1981 NCAA Championship teams.
