
Al Scates Retirement Celebration Set for Nov. 11

The Al Scates Retirement Celebration has been formally set for Sun., Nov. 11 in the newly-renovated Pauley Pavilion.
The celebration will follow the annual Alumni Match, with the first serve scheduled for 2 p.m. Scates will serve as coach of the Alumni for the first time.
Scates retired on June 30 after 50 years as head coach of the Bruins. He led the UCLA men's volleyball program to 21 overall national championships, including 19 NCAA titles. He retired with more than 1,200 victories and 24 conference championships, more than any Division I men's volleyball coach in the nation.
Cost of the event is $25 for the general public, including the Alumni Match and celebration, as long as RSVPs are received prior to Nov. 2. Cost for the event is $35 after Nov. 2. Please RSVP to Mariella Trombetta (mtrombetta@athletics.ucla.edu / 310-794-9869) by Friday, November 2, 2012.
