
Bruins Tied for Fourth Entering Final Round in Las Vegas

UCLA junior Pontus Widegren narrowed the gap to two strokes after two rounds and the fifth-ranked Bruins were in a tie for fourth in the team standings at the Southern Highlands Collegiate Masters in Las Vegas Saturday.
UCLA posted a team score of 292 (+4) for a 36-hole total of 583 (+7), 10 shots behind Cal, which held the second round lead at 573 (-3). Host UNLV was second at 579 (+3), followed by Texas A&M at 580 (+4). The Bruins were tied with Stanford. Texas was sixth at 584 (+8).
Individually, Widegren cut two strokes off the leader, Logan McCracken of Texas Tech, by firing a one-under par 71 for a 36-hole sum of 140 (-4). McCracken followed his first round 66 (-6) with an even par 72 and was at six-under 138. Sophomore Patrick Cantlay improved with a 71 (-1) and was tied for 17th at 145 (+1). Junior Pedro Figueiredo was tied for 32nd at 147 (+3), following his round of 73 (+1) and teammate Mario Clemens was tied for 48th at 151 (+7) after Saturday's round of 77 (+5). Tied for 53rd was sophomore Anton Arboleda at 153 (+9) following a round of 78 (+6).
