
Golfers Finish Third in Las Vegas

The fifth-ranked UCLA men's golf team climbed into a third place finish and junior Pontus Widegren tied for second place to conclude the Southern Highlands Collegiate Masters in Las Vegas on Sunday.
The Bruins improved to third place with a 54-hole total of 882 (+18), 10 shots behind host and winner UNLV. Cal, Which led after the first two rounds, placed second at 873 (+9). In fourth place was Texas A&M at 885 (+21), followed by Stanford at 888 (+24) and No.1 ranked Texas at 891 (+27).
Individually for the Bruins, Widegren posted a final round 74 (+2) on Sunday for a three-round total of 214 (-2), Junior Mario Clemens tied for 27th at 224 (+8) following a round of 73 (+1). The Bruins' three remaining players tied for 33rd at 226 (+10): junior Pedro Figueiredo and sophomores Patrick Cantlay and Anton Arboleda. Arboleda posted a 73 (+1), Figueiredo carded a 79 (+7) and Cantlay signed for an 81 (+9).
Blake Biddle of UNLV won medalist honors with a four-under par total of 212 after posting a final round score of 69 (-3).
