Bruins Featured Prominently in ESPN's Title IX 40th Anniversary TV Schedule

UCLA Athletics: Celebrating 40 Years of Title IX
On the 40th anniversary of Title IX June 23, the ESPN family of Networks will air special programming focusing on women's sports. UCLA, one of the leaders in the women's sports movement, will be featured prominently in the programming, including specials focusing on UCLA alumnae Jackie Joyner-Kersee and Florence Griffth-Joyner and a replay of UCLA's 2011 NCAA Women's Volleyball Championship match.
Schaap One on One: Jackie Joyner-Kersee, an extensive interview of the three-time Olympic gold medalist who is widely considered the greatest female athlete of all-time conducted by legendary journalist Dick Schaap, airs on ESPN Classic at 7:00 am PT. Immediately following, at 7:30am PT, also on ESPN Classic is SportsCentury: Florence Griffith-Joyner, a look at the "fastest woman of all time" who won three Olympic gold medals in 1988.
At noon PT on ESPN2, the Title IX Anniversary Documentary Sporting Chance presented by Northwestern Mutual airs. The documentary features personal stories from many prominent figures in women's athletics, including former UCLA swimmer Donna de Varona.
Softball takes the stage at 10am PT and again at 1pm PT on ESPN3 with a pair of National Pro Fastpitch game between Florida and Carolina. Florida's team features Bruin Olympians Andrea Duran and Natasha Watley, while Carolina's squad features UCLA alumnae GiOnna DiSalvatore and Amanda Kamekona.
ESPNU will air two 2011-12 championships that UCLA teams contended in, including the 2011 NCAA Women's Volleyball Championship that the Bruins won over Illinois. Airtimes (all Pacific Time) for the championship match are 2:30am and 1:00pm. The NCAA Women's Gymnastics Championship, at which the Bruins finished one-tenth of a point out of first place, re-airs at 11pm PT on June 22.
