The second-ranked UCLA women's golf team finished their second round of play in a tie for eighth at the Golfweek Collegiate Invitational Tuesday at the Red Sky Golf Club in Vail, CO.

The Bruins showed great progress in their second day of the tournament, posting a team score of 294 (+6) that bested their Monday total by a full 16 strokes. That left the Bruins with a score of 604 (+28) through 36 holes, good enough to move into an eighth-place tie with East Tennessee St.
After finishing tied for 15th on day one, the UCLA women notched the third best score of the second round, finishing only behind UC Davis' 285 (-3) and Pepperdine's 289 (+1). Pepperdine retained the top overall spot with a team total of 575 (-1), as Waves held off hard-charging UC Davis and their team total of 577 (+2) after Oklahoma finished Tuesday at 300 (+12), dropping the Sooners into third at 586 (+10).

Individually, the Bruins saw total improvement across the board. Senior Lee Lopez and junior Ani Gulugian led the team climb up the standings, as the two veterans both finished their days with a 71 (-1).
Lopez once again provided an individual highlight, hitting three straight birdies before playing her last four holes even to finish under par. Lopez bested her Monday total by seven strokes, the biggest jump for any UCLA player on day two.
Gulugian's round, combined with a steady Monday performance, was enough to launch her from 28th into a tie for 11th on the individual leaderboard, the highest placing for any Bruin in the tourney thus far.
The team also saw another strong performance from freshman Louise Ridderstrom in her first-ever tournament. The Swede carded a 73 (+1) to beat her previous score by one and climb from 23rd into a tie for 16th in the individual standings. Fellow freshman Jacquie LeMarr also improved, cutting four strokes off her score to finish at 79 (+7).
