At 23-19, Pacific scored a pair of points, and UCLA called its second timeout. Quiroga got the final two points to give the Bruins the set.
In Set 2, UCLA took an early 4-1 lead on kills by Quiroga, Rowe and Page before Pacific called its first timeout. Two more kills from Quiroga and spikes by Paullin and Page gave the visitors a 9-4 lead. The hosts called their final timeout. After the break, a service error by Pacific and a kill by Page gave UCLA a 23-19 lead. A kill from Quiroga and an ace from Michael Beals, who entered the match at set point, gave the Bruins a 2-0 sets advantage.
Pacific took a 2-0 lead in Set 3 before UCLA scored five straight points on three kills from junior Dane Worley and an ace from Bannan and a kill by Quiroga. From there, the Bruins padded their lead and were never threatened. Quiroga got the match winner.
