
Bruins Second after Opening Day in Hawaii

Sparked by freshman Bronte Law's eight-under par second round, top-ranked UCLA was within striking distance of its third team title of the season at the Pac-12 Preview in Hawai'i on Monday.
UCLA was in second place, two strokes behind first-place Washington. The Bruins were at 14-under par 570 and the Huskies were leading the 12-team field at 16-under 568. USC, winner of seven straight tournaments over two seasons, was lurking in third place at 12-under 572. In fourth was Arizona at 580 (-4), followed by Stanford at 581 (-3).
This week, the Nanea Golf Club is playing to a par of 73 over 6,112 yards.
Individually for the Bruins, Law made eight birdies and no bogeys on her way to a second round score of 65 (-8). Combined with an opening round 70 (-3), she was at 135 (-11) and leading by four shots entering the final round.
Tied for 13th at two-under par 144 was junior Erynne Lee, who posted consecutive rounds of 72 (-1). Sophomore Louise Ridderstrom was tied for 17th at 145 (-1) following scores of 70-75 and freshman Alison Lee was tied for 19th at even par 146 after carding scores of 71-75. Senior Ani Gulugian was tied for 26th at 148 (+2) after recording scores of 72-76.
The final round begins Tuesday at 7:30 a.m. HST.
