The no. 7 ranked UCLA Women's Golf Team remained in second on Tuesday after two rounds of play at the Pac-12 Championship. The Bruins, in second place after Monday's first round, shot 292(+4) to notch the fourth-best score of the round and remain stationary in the standings at Valencia Country Club.
The effort was enough to leave the Bruins with a 36-hole total of 582(+6), but UCLA will be hard-pressed to catch top-ranked USC, who shot 291(+3) on day two to bring their overall total to 571(-5). The Trojans, untouchable on day one, now possess a nine-stroke lead headed into the final day. And in addition to catching Southern California, UCLA will also have to hold off surging Washington, as the Huskies scored 291(+3) on Tuesday to move within two strokes of UCLA at 584(+8). Following closely behind is Arizona, as the Wildcats shot a blistering 284(-4) on day two to move up to fourth at 585(+9).
Tiffany Lua led the Bruins, as the senior asserted herself and carded a 70(-2) to move into a four-way tie for 6th individually. Ani Gulugian followed behind, improving upon her first score by two strokes to card a 72(E) and slide up into a three-way tie for 13th. Lee Lopez shot a 73(+1) for the second consecutive day, joining teammate Gulugian in 13th. Sophomore Erynne Lee rebounded from a tough start to finish with a 77(+5), tied for 17th, and freshman Louise Ridderstrom rounded out the scoring for UCLA, as she carded a 79(+7).
The final round begins Wednesday morning. Scores will be posted here by the Pac-12 conference at the end of each round. Those looking to follow live can do so here on Golfstat. Tee times for day three are listed here.
