
Men?s Golf Rises to Finish Fifth in Georgia

The Bruins posted the second-best team score of the day – a final round, nine under par 279 – that pulled them out of 12th place and vaulted them into place fifth at 860 (-4). Texas won the event with a 54-hole total of 843 (-21), followed by Virginia at 20-under 844. Both the Cavaliers and Longhorns fired final round scores of 277 (-11). LSU was third at 857 (-7) and Wake Forest finished fourth at 858 (-6).
Junior Jonathan Garrick led the Bruins in the final round, firing a five-under par score of 67 to tie for eighth place at 211 (-5). Garrick's third round card featured six birdies and a bogey. Senior Preston Valder and junior Lorens Chan each posted rounds of 69 on Sunday. Chan tied for 19th at one-under par 215, and Valder tied for 39th at three-over par 219 after rising 20 spots up the leader board in the last round. Senior Manav Shah tied for 32nd place at 218 (+2) following his round of 74 (+2). Junior Jake Knapp recorded a 76 (+4) and tied for 59th at 224 (+8).
Virginia's Derek Bard won medalist honors, firing a final round 64 (-8) to finish at 15-under 201.
