Golfers Tie for Seventh in Hawaii

The 15th ranked UCLA men's golf team completed play at the Amer Ari Invitational in Hawaii Saturday.

The Bruins tied for seventh place at 837 (-27), 14 strokes behind Oklahoma State, which won the event with a score of 819 (-41). The Cowboys posted a final round team score of 217 (-17). Washington was second at 831 (-33), followed by Oregon, TCU and USC in a tie for third at 835 (-29). Auburn finished alone in sixth place at 836 (-28). The Bruins were tied with Stanford and Georgia Tech.

UCLA sophomore Lorens Chan was the Bruins' top finisher, tying for ninth place at 206 (-10). Sophomore Jonathan Garrick, who played the final 36 holes in eight under par, tied for 24th place at 209 (-7) following a third round of 68 (-4). Tied for 49th place at three-under par 213 was junior Jay Hwang and tied for 64th after posting a two-under par 70 on Saturday was Matt Pinizzotto at even par 216. Sophomore Jake Knapp tied for 84th at 219 (+3) after carding at 72 (E).

Oklahoma State's Jordan Niebrugge won the tournament with a 54-hole score of 200 (-16).
