
UCLA Advances to MPSF Semifinals

LOS ANGELES -- The top-ranked UCLA Bruins advanced to the semifinals of the 2015 MPSF Tournament at USC's Uytengsu Aquatics Center with a 12-7 win over No. 8 Long Beach State (12-15) in quarterfinal action on Friday afternoon. The Bruins improved to 26-0 on the year, winning their 29th-straight victory, which extends the second-longest winning streak in school history. The all-time record is 50, which was established from 1964-68.
Sophomore Max Irving led UCLA with a game-high three goals in the win. Seniors Anthony Daboub and Daniel McClintick and juniors Patrick Fellner and Ryder Roberts each added two goals for the Bruins. Junior goalkeeper Garrett Danner registered 12 saves, five steals and two assists for the Bruins.
Pavo Ljepopio was credited with nine saves for the 49ers.
UCLA went 6-for-13 on power plays while the 49ers were 3-for-7. LBSU went 0-for-1 on penalty shots while the Bruins didn't attempt one.
The Bruins return to action tomorrow in the semifinals against No. 4 USC at 2:30 p.m. The Trojans defeated No. 5 Stanford 7-6 in overtime in an earlier quarterfinal.
