February 14, 2015 | Women's Water Polo
The Bruins raised their overall record to 10-1, while the fifth-ranked Anteaters, who have lost four games to higher ranked opponents, fell to 5-4.
Fattal got the scoring started with a pair of goals in the first quarter, connecting at 5:23 on a power play from the front court. Less than a minute later, she drilled another goal from the front court for a 2-0 UCLA lead.
That score stood until junior Kodi Hill scored at 4:42 of the second period on another power play. Junior Alys Williams scored from the front court with 1:45 remaining and the Bruins led 4-0 at halftime.
UCLA went up 5-0 on another exclusion goal, this one from sophomore Mackenzie Barr at 4:19 of the third.
The Anteaters got on the board with a goal from junior Hanna Lancaster at 3:36, and cut the lead to three 48 seconds later with a goal from sophomore Destine Albers.
Freshman Alexis Angermund (7:22) and Fattal (5:16) put the Bruins back up by five with fourth quarter goals before the Eaters got a pair of exclusion goals from Mary Brooks (4:36) and Lancaster (3:18). Ahead 7-4, Fattal scored her final goal on a power play with 1:10 remaining and the Eaters answered with one from Julie Swieca with nine seconds left.
Sami Hill had six saves at halftime and added six more in the third period. Her 805 career saves ranks 11th on the all-time MPSF list and she needs 12 more to claim the 10th spot.
