
Bruins Tied for Third after John Hayt Invitational First Round

The Bruins posted an opening round score of 300 (+12) and trailed first-place North Florida (296, +8) by four shots. Oklahoma State was second at 297 (+9). The Bruins were tied with Alabama and Texas in fifth place at 301 (+13).
UCLA's Jonathan Garrick led his team with a round of 73 (+1) after making two birdies and three bogeys on the day. Junior Lorens Chan made five birdies on the day, but had to endure three bogeys and two double bogeys on his way to a score of 74 (+2). Chan was tied for seventh. Tied for 15th was senior Preston Valder after posting a 75 (+3). Junior Jake Knapp was tied for 42nd after carding a 78 (+6) and senior Manav Shah had the drop score of 82 (+10) and was tied for 74th. Senior Jay Hwang, playing as an individual, posted a score of 77 (+5) and was tied for 30th.
Alabama's Tom Lovelady was the first round leader and posting a 2-under par 70.
