Bruins Wrap Action at UCSB Invite
January 25, 2016 | Women's Water Polo
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The second-ranked UCLA women's water polo team improves to 4-0 with another pair of wins at the UCSB Winter Invitational. After cruising past No. 17 LBSU Sunday morning, the Bruins went on to beat No. 12 Michigan to wrap up weekend action.
Junior Mackenzie Barr posted a team-high six goals on the day, netting four against LBSU and two against Michigan. Senior Charlotte Pratt and sophomore Devin Grab each found the back of the net twice in UCLA's 11-4 win over the 49ers, while three Bruins also recorded a goal apiece.
In its last game of the weekend, UCLA played strong defense at the start and finish, holding Michigan to just one goal in each period. The Bruins had 12 exclusions called on them, but their 6-on-5 defense limited Michigan's offensive output. UCLA presented a balanced offensive attack, with four different players scoring twice and three players each tallying a goal.
Next up, the Bruins (4-0) host the USA Women's National Team on Saturday, Jan. 30, at 2:00 p.m. The scrimmage takes place at Sunset Canyon Recreation Center.
