No. 12 UCLA Routs No. 6 Georgia 6-1

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The No. 12 UCLA men's tennis team routed sixth-ranked Georgia 6-1 in Saturday afternoon's Pac-12/SEC Challenge match. Junior Mackenzie McDonald clinched the match for the Bruins with an ace to defeat 28th-ranked Austin Smith in three sets on court 1.

In doubles play, McDonald and Martin Redlicki dominated the No. 10 pair in the country. The Bruins cruised past the Bulldogs' Smith and Ben Wagland 6-1. On court 2, Georgia's Paul Oosterbaan and Jan Zielinski answered back with a 6-4 win over Joseph Di Giulio and Karue Sell. The battle for the doubles point went down to the wire on court 3, but Gage Brymer and Austin Rapp edged the 45th-ranked doubles team of Wayne Montgomery and Emil Reinberg 7-6.

The Bruins made quick work of the Bulldogs in singles as Di Giulio and Sell took their respective matches in straights on courts 6 and 4. After dropping the first set, 2-6, McDonald rallied to force a third. The Bruin took the three-setter with a 6-2 win, and gave UCLA an insurmountable 4-0 lead.
UCLA is now 2-1 against Georgia in the Pac-12/SEC Challenge. The Bruins face No. 20 Florida on Sunday at 1 p.m., following No. 6 Georgia's match against No. 8 USC at 10 a.m.
