
Bruins Win Stroke Play, Earn Top Seed

ATHENS, Ga. - The third-ranked Bruins won the stroke-play portion of the Liz Murphy Collegiate Classic, firing a 2-under 286 on Friday at the University of Georgia Golf Course.
Senior Louise Ridderström was the individual medalist by one shot, shooting a 4-under 68. With a shotgun start, Ridderström began on the seventh hole and quickly made birdies on holes #8, #9 and #10. She added birdies on the 13th and 17th, with her only miscue being a bogey on the first.
Freshman Bethany Wu tied for fourth with a 1-under 71. Opening on the eighth, she birdied the 12th, but bogeyed #18 and #1. She finished strong though with birdies on her final two holes, the sixth and the seventh. Junior Hadas Libman tied for 12th with a 1-over 73. She birdied her opening hole, the ninth, also gaining strokes on #18 and #7, while making two bogeys and a double.
Freshman Lilia Vu made 15 pars in her round and shot a 2-over 74 (T-22). She birdied the third, bogeyed the fourth and doubled the 11th. Sophomore Lydia Choi shot a non-team scoring 3-over 75 (T-29). She made birdies on the fifth and sixth, along with five bogeys.
UCLA advances to the match-play portion as the top seed, facing #8-seed and 14th-ranked Kent State. The Bruins and the Golden Flashes will tee off the first hole between 5 a.m. and 5:32 a.m. PT. The winner of the UCLA-Kent State match will face the winner of the USC-Northwestern match later on Saturday (10 a.m.-10:32 a.m. PT). Live scoring is available here.
