SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- The top-ranked UCLA Bruins improved to 4-0 on the year with a 15-6 victory over Loyola Marymount in the second game of the UCLA Invitational on Sunday morning at Cathedral Catholic High School. The victory was UCLA's 37th-straight win, which extends the second-longest winning streak in school history. The all-time record is 50, which was established from 1964-68.

Nine different Bruins scored in the game, led by senior Patrick Fellner's three goals. Senior Garrett Danner made the start in the cage for UCLA, playing the first three quarters and some of the fourth, recording eight saves, three steals and one assist. Junior Aleksandar Ruzic played the final 4:29 of the fourth quarter in the cage for UCLA and didn't record any statistics while surrendering two power play goals.

The Bruins pitched a shutout in the first quarter while getting two goals from senior Ryder Roberts (6:26, penalty and 5:05, power play) and one goal each from freshman Jake Simpson (4:08) and sophomore Warren Snyder (2:13, power play).

The Bruins won the second period 3-2, getting three goals at full strength while giving up two goals in 5-on-6 situations. Senior Chancellor Ramirez (5:39) and freshman James Vlachonassios (5:04) opened the scoring in the second period to give UCLA a 6-0 lead. After a power play goal by the Lions' Daniel Arellano (4:31), Senior Alec Zwaneveld scored to push the lead to 7-1 (2:37), but the Lions got a power play goal (1:15) to cut the lead to 7-2 at the break.

Matt Braun and Jon Beck scored for LMU in the third period to cut UCLA's lead down to four (8-4) at the 3:52 mark, but the Bruins scored seven in a row to put the game away. Ramirez scored his second of the game on a power play (3:29) and then Fellner scored his second of the period (2:43), followed by a goal at even strength from junior Matt Farmer (1:51) to end the scoring in the third with UCLA holding an 11-4 edge.

The Bruins scored the first four goals in the fourth to take a commanding 15-4 advantage. Fellner completed his hat trick with a power play strike (6:59) and senior Joey Fuentes rifled one in from the front court (6:36) to make it 13-4. Two more power play goals by Farmer (5:10) and Simpson (2:42) left the Buins up 15-4. LMU answered with two power play goals (1:22 and 0:04) to provide the 15-6 final.
