STANFORD, Calif. --ย Third-ranked UCLA (16-3, 0-2)ย couldn't get its offense going and dropped an important road game at fourth-ranked Stanford (16-3, 1-1) by a count of 7-5 on Saturday afternoon at the Avery Aquatic Center. Stanford snapped a four-game losing streak to UCLA in the process, improving to 83-72ย all-time against the Bruins.

Freshman Nicolas Saveljicย led the Bruins in scoring with two goals while redshirt sophomore Alex Wolf made 13 stops in cage for the Bruins.

Stanford's Ben Hallock scored on a one-timer to put the Cardinal up 1-0 at the 6:20 mark of the first quarter. Senior Alex Roelseย had an immediate answer with a strike from the front court (6:02) to tie things up at 1-1 and end the scoring in the opening period.

Senior Jesse Camouย gave the Bruins their first lead with a goal from the front court (5:36) to open the scoring in the second quarter. But Stanford scored two straight goals to regain the lead. Blake Parrish scored on a counter (2:53) and then Hallock scored his second of the game (0:04) to end the scoring in the second with Stanford leading 3-2 at the break.

Connor Stapleton gave Stanford a 4-2 lead (4:57) with a goal from the front court. But senior Max Irving went cross-cage off the post to score from the front court to cut it to 4-3 (2:26). Hallock then completed his hat trick with a goal at set (2:01) to push the lead to 5-3. But Saveljicย scored on a beautiful skip shot (1:44) to end the scoring in the third with Stanford leading 5-4.

Sawyer Rhodes opened the scoring in the fourth (6:08), beating a sleepy Bruin defense with a goal nearside to push the Cardinal's lead to 6-4. Saveljic scored his second of the game and the Bruins' first on a power play (5:21) to cut it to 6-5. Jackson Kimbell gave Stanford a 7-5 lead on a power play (2:49) and that was all the Cardinal needed to secure the win.

The Bruins return to action on Sunday, Nov. 5 at No. 11 San Jose State in their final non-conference game of the season at 1:00 p.m.ย PT.
