ON DECK THIS WEEK
A big televised game is coming up for the Bruins this week as No. 3 UCLA (16-2, 0-1 MPSF) travels to No. 4 Stanford (15-3, 0-1 MPSF) on Saturday, Nov. 4. The game will be televised live on the Pac-12 Networks with Greg Mescall calling all of the exciting action, which will begin at 12:35 p.m. PT. The Bruins will also visit No. 11 San Jose State on Sunday, Nov. 5 at 1:00 p.m. PT.

SERIES HISTORY
This is the 155th meeting between UCLA and Stanford with the Cardinal leading the all-time series, 82-72. The Bruins have won the last four meetings, including a 7-6 thriller last season in Los Angeles. Patrick Fellner scored a hat trick, including the game-winner with 1:47 to go in the fourth quarter. The Bruins swept Stanford in 2015, winning 12-8 at Stanford in MPSF play and posted an 8-7 win at Stanford in the finals of the NorCal Invitational. Stanford's last win over UCLA came in Los Angeles on Oct. 13, 2014 when Bret Bonanni scored three goals to lead the Cardinal to a 7-6 win in the third-place game of the SoCal Invitational at UCLA.

LAST TIME OUT VS. STANFORD
The top-ranked UCLA Bruins never trailed against No. 6 Stanford and got some late game-winning heroics from senior Patrick Fellner to post a 7-6 win on Oct. 29, 2016 at Spieker Aquatics Center on the Pac-12 Networks. The win was UCLA's 55th in a row and 26th straight in league play. Fellner led the Bruins with a hat trick and his final goal with 1:47 to go proved to be the game-winner. Jack Grover added two scores for the Bruins. Garrett Danner started in goal for the Bruins, registering eight saves, two steals and two assists while giving up six goals (four on power plays). Oliver Lewis started in goal for the Cardinal, allowing seven goals while making seven stops for Stanford, which had six different players (Mitchell Mendoza, Marco Stanchi, Harris Enright, Sam Pfeil, Cody Smith and Spencer Rogers) score one goal each.

REHASHING LAST WEEK
Second-ranked UCLA (16-2) jumped out to a 12-8 lead and ran out the clock on the visiting fifth-ranked Pacific Tigers (14-4) on Oct. 28 to post a 12-11 win in a nonconference game at Dirks Pool at Spieker Aquatics Center. UCLA improved to 48-4 all-time against Pacific. Senior Matt Farmer led all scorers with a game-high four goals and senior Alex Roelse added a hat trick for the Bruins. Senior Aleksandar Ruzic got the starting nod in goal for the Bruins and made eight saves while allowing 11 goals (seven on power plays). Engin Ege Colak led the Tigers with a hat trick.

SUDDEN IMPACT
Two of UCLA's top three scorers are true freshmen through the first 18 games of the 2017 season. Nicolas Saveljic (6-7, ATK, Kotor, Montenegro) leads UCLA in scoring with 34 goals (2.00 goals per game), which ranks 4th in the MPSF. He has scored at least one goal in 16 of the 17 games he has played (played only one quarter in the 20-9 win over No. 17 Cal Baptist (Oct. 13) and failed to score on only one shot). He also leads the team in steals (26) and in sprints won (15-of-23). Chasen Travisano (6-2, ATK, Glendora, Calif., Damien HS), is third on the team in scoring with 24 goals (1.33 goals per game), which ranks 15th in the MPSF. He is third on the team in assists (20) and is also third in sprints won (6-of-13). He has scored at least one goal in each of the last eight games.

FARMER NAMED MPSF/KAP7 PLAYER OF THE WEEK
UCLA senior Matt Farmer (La Grange, IL/Fenwick HS) was named the MPSF/KAP7 Player of the Week as announced by the league office on Oct. 30, 2017. Farmer led the Bruins in scoring with a career- and season-high-tying four goals in a 12-11 win over No. 5 Pacific (Oct. 28). Farmer scored one power play goal in the first and second periods, and then helped UCLA pull away from a three-goal halftime lead with two goals in the third period. He added one steal and drew one exclusion against the Tigers. This is the first career MPSF weekly honor for Farmer.

BRUINS IN MPSFย RANKINGS
Five Bruins currently rank in the top 24 in the MPSF in scoring with freshman Nicolas Saveljic leading the way in 4th (334 goals, 2.13 gpg). Senior Max Irving is 9th with 30 goals (1.67 gpg) while freshman Chasen Travisano is 16th with 24 goals (1.33 gpg). Senior Matt Farmer is 17th (23 goals, 1.28 gpg) and senior Alex Roelse is 19th (22 goals, 1.22 gpg). Redshirt Sophomore Alex Wolf is third in goals against average (6.95) and fifth in saves per game (10.55).

COACHING CHANGES
The UCLA men's water polo team has hired Bruin standout Ryder Roberts to the post of assistant coach and has promoted Jason Falitz to associate head coach, head coach Adam Wright announced on Aug. 16, 2017.

THE WRIGHT STUFF
Adam Wright is in his ninth season as UCLA's head men's water polo coach in 2017 with an overall record of 222-34 (.867) and an MPSF mark of 50-11 (.820). His teams earned perfect APR (Academic Progress Rate) scores of 1,000 in 2014 and 2015 while winning the school's 112th and 113th NCAA Championships. On July 20, 2017, UCLA Director of Athletics, Dan Guerrero, announced that Wright will now guide both the UCLA men's and women's water polo teams.

KEEPERS OF THE STREAK
During the 2016 season, UCLA set school, conference and national records for consecutive wins (57) in collegiate men's water polo. The 57-game winning streak was the second-longest streak among all sports at UCLA (men's basketball won 88 consecutive games from 1971-74). The Bruins finished the season 25-3 overall. The 57 straight victories dated back to the 2014 campaign, UCLA's first of two consecutive national titles. The Bruins also won an MPSF and UCLA record 26 straight league games dating back to the 2013 season.
