LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- No. 2 UCLA (26-3) saw its school-record 24-match winning streak come to an end in the regular season finale on Saturday at No. 1 USC (30-0) by a score of 4-1 at Merle Norman Stadium.
UCLA got the first point on the board on court four as senior Jordan Anderson and sophomore Izzy Carey defeated USC's Abril Bustamante and Joy Dennis in straight sets, 21-13, 21-19.
USC tied it at 1-1 when Jenna Belton and Jo Kremer held off a rally from the UCLA freshman pair of Chanti Holroyd and Lily Justine in three sets, 21-16, 19-21, 15-9.
USC took a 2-1 lead on court two when Sophie Bukovec and Allie Wheeler defeated UCLA's duo of freshman Madi Yeomans and senior Kamila Tan in straight sets, 21-13, 21-13.
The Trojans clinched the match on court one with a 21-15, 22-20 win over UCLA's sophomore tandem of Megan McNamara and Nicole McNamara.
Another three-set match occurred on court three as Terese Cannon and Nicolette Martin defeated the Bruins' freshman Torrey Van Winden and junior Elise Zappia, 19-21, 22-20, 15-10.
In exhibition play, UCLA's pair of Remy Wilson and Jasmine Hogan played against Becca Dunn and Katrina Kernochan, with each team winning a set. The Trojan pair won the first set 21-17 and UCLA rallied to win the second, 23-21. The match was not played to conclusion.
