STILLWATER, Okla. - Junior Beth Wu and sophomore Mariel Galdiano both won their matches on Tuesday, but the Bruins saw their season come to an end in a 3-2 decision to Arizona in the NCAA Match Play Quarterfinals at Karsten Creek Golf Club.

Wu was the first to earn a point in the match, defeating Yu-Sang Hou, 2&1. Wu dropped the first hole, but won the second and fourth, never trailing again in the match. She went on to also win No. 6 and No. 12 to go 3-up. Hou got one back on the 16th, but a halve on the 17th gave Wu the victory.

Arizona's Gigi Stoll evened the match with a victory over junior Lilia Vu, who took a 1-up lead on the third. Stoll evened things up on the fifth, but Vu claimed the sixth to again go 1-up. Stoll then made a run, winning the eighth, ninth and 11th holes to go 2-up. Vu would get back to all square with wins on No. 14 and 16, but Stoll won the final two holes to take the match, 2-up.

Haley Moore gave the Wildcats a 2-1 lead. She won the fifth, but sophomore Clare Legaspi took the sixth to get back to all square. Moore followed that up with wins on No. 7, 8 and 9 to go 3-up. After a Legaspi win on No. 10 and a Moore win on No. 13 to keep it 3-up, Legaspi won No. 15 and 16 to get to within 1-up. But Moore won the next two, taking the match, 3&1.

Galdiano tied the overall match with a 3&1 victory over Sandra Nordaas. Galdiano won the second hole, but fell 2-down with losses on No. 1, 3 and 4. But then the Bruin sophomore went on a streak, winning four holes in a row (No. 7-10) to go from 2-down to 2-up. Nordaas cut the deficit to 1-down on the 12th, but Galdiano claimed No. 14 and then finished the match with a win on No. 17.

The overall winner would come down to the final match between freshman Patty Tavatanakit and Bianca Pagdanganan. After four halves to open the match, Pagdanganan won No. 5 and 6. Tavatanakit closed the front nine with wins on No. 8 and 9 to make it all square. After a win for Pagdanganan on No. 10, Tavatanakit won three in a row (No. 11-13) to go 2-up. The see-saw match continued, as Pagdanganan won No. 14 and 15 to square the match. Things remained tied until the 18th, where Tavatanakit made par, but Pagdanganan posted birdie to advance Arizona into the Match Play Semifinals.
