STILLWATER, Okla. - Junior Cole Madey shot the low round of the day for the Bruins, posting a 2-under 70 on Friday at Karsten Creek Golf Club. He is in a tie for 13th after 18 holes, with half the field unable to complete the opening round due to weather delays.
Madey birdied three of his first four holes. Starting on the back nine, he gained strokes on No. 11, 12 and 14, making a bogey on the 18th. Madey followed that with nine pars on the front nine.
As a team, the Bruins shot a 7-over 295 and are in 25th place. Freshmen Devon Bling and Eddy Lai each posted 2-over 74s (T-80) in round one. Bling made three birdies on No. 12, 1 and 9 to go with five bogeys, while Lai had four birdies on No. 14, 17, 1 and 7 and six bogeys. Sophomore Hidetoshi Yoshihara recorded a 5-over 77 (T-128), making three birdies on No. 14, 15 and 18, six bogeys and a double. Senior Tyler Collier shot a 6-over 78 (T-134), notching birdies on No. 15 and 4, three bogeys, a double and a triple.
Friday's play was suspended at 8:38 p.m. CT and is scheduled to resume on Saturday at 7 a.m. CT/5 a.m. PT. Second-round tee times are scheduled to start at 8 a.m. CT/6 a.m. PT. The Bruins were slated to start their second round at 1:15 p.m. CT/11:15 a.m. PT. Live scoring will be available here.
