No. 2 UCLA Rallies to Defeat No. 8 California, 10-9

The Bruins were led by sophomore Ashworth Molthenย and juniors Chasen Travisano and Felix Brozyna-Vilim, each with two goals.ย Redshirt senior Alex Wolf played the entire game in the cage, registering 12 saves while allowing nine goals.
UCLA drew first blood with Brozyna-Vilim scoring from two meters (6:39).ย Nikos Papanikolaouย tied things up at 1-1 (6:04) with a goal on a counter attack. The Bruins would take a 2-1 lead after Molthenย scored on a strike from the front court (4:59). But Sam Untrechtย tied it at 2-2 with a goal from the front court (3:30). Cal would tack on two more goals, a score from two meters by Warren Loth (2:48) and a penalty shot conversion by Miles O'Brien-Schriddeย (0:01) to take a 4-2 lead into the second period.
The Bruins won the second period, 3-2. Freshman Jack White opened the scoring in the second with a power play goal (5:46) to cut the deficit to 4-3. After Hoover scored from two meters (4:23) to extend the Golden Bears' advantage, freshman Andy Rodgers scored on a Bruin power play (1:26) to cut it to 5-4. Joe Molina scored from the front court for Cal to push the lead to 6-4 (1:08). Molthenย added his second of the game, beating the buzzer and Cal's goalie, Adrian Weinberg, on a shot after an ordinary foul (0:01) to trim Cal's lead to 6-5 at the break.
California won the third period, 3-1, to take a 9-6 lead into the fourth. Sophomore Matthew Kacura tied the game at 6-6 (4:57) on a 6-on-5 opportunity for the Bruins. But California would end the period with three straight power play goals, one each by Loth (3:22), Molina (2:06), and Hoover (1:19).
The Bruins dominated the fourth quarter to complete the comeback. Travisano was huge in the final period, scoring twice while adding one assist, drawing one offensive foul and picking up the game-sealing steal. He opened the quarter with back-to-back goals, a power play goal (7:46) and a score from the front court (7:04), to cut the deficit to 9-8. Brozyna-Vilim then made a powerful turn at set off a feed from Travisano, and tied the game at 9-9 at the 6:05 mark. That set up the game-winning heroics from sophomore Jake Cavano, who fired a strong shot from the front court into the back of the net with 0:43 remaining. Travisanoย then made a steal with 0:25 to go and the Bruins ran out the clock to win the game, 10-9.
The Bruins return to action next week when they host No. 7 USC on "Senior Day" on Saturday, Nov. 9ย at 10:30 a.m. PT on the Pac-12 Networks.
