No. 1 UCLA Falls to No. 2 USC, 3-2

STANFORD, Calif. -- No. 1 UCLA (25-1) saw its consecutive dual winning streak come to an end at 29 on Sunday morning as No. 2 USC (19-4) posted wins at the top three courts to win the dual 3-2 in the Pac-12 North Invitational at Stanford Beach Volleyball Stadium.
Tina Graudina and Abril Bustamante put the Trojans up 1-0 with a straight-set win over UCLA seniors Megan McNamara and Nicole McNamara on court one, 21-16, 21-11.
Sammy Slater and Terese Cannon made it 2-0 USC with a straight-set win on court two over UCLA's senior Sarah Sponcil and junior Lily Justine, 21-17, 21-18.
Sophomore Lea Monkhouse and junior Savvy Simo got the Bruins on the board with an easy 21-16, 21-11 win over USC's Joy Dennis and Maja Kaiser on court four.
Freshman Lindsey Sparks and senior Izzy Carey then tied the dual at 2-2 with a straight-set win on court five over the Trojans' Laurel Kujan and Hannah Martin, 21-13, 21-14.
It all came down to court three where USC's Haley Hallgren and Alexandra Poletto defeated the Bruins' pair of freshman Abby Van Winkle and senior Zana Muno in three sets, 21-16, 10-21, 15-13.
In exhibition play on court six, UCLA's Madi Yeomans and Megan Muret defeated USC's Josannah Vazquez and Karina Myszkowski in straight sets, 21-14, 21-16.
The Bruins return to action later today at 1:00 p.m. PT when they conclude the tournament with the hosts, No. 19 Stanford.
