Swim and Dive to Open 2020 at UCSD

The UCLA swim and dive team is set to resume its campaign on Friday, traveling to UC San Diego for a non-conference dual meet at the Canyonview Aquatic Center. The meet is the Bruins' first of the 2020 calendar year and their first interscholastic competition since late November.
Friday's meet is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m., and live results will be available via the Meet Mobile app. There will not be a live stream.
UCLA is 1-0 all-time against UCSD, with the first-ever matchup between the two schools taking place last season in a tri-meet with UCSB at Spieker Aquatics Center. The Bruins out-scored the Tritons 182-74, receiving event wins from Sandra Soe (500 free, 1000 free), Emma Schanz (100 back, 200 IM), Claire Grover (50 free, 100 free), Sophia Cavalli (200 free), and Emily Lo (200 breast).
This weekend marks UCLA's second trip to the San Diego area this season. The Bruins opened the 2019-20 campaign and the Jordan Wolfrum era with a 165-120 triumph over the University of San Diego at the USD Pentathlon on Sept. 13.
The Bruins are 5-0 in dual meets so far this season, with wins coming over the Toreros, Utah, UC Santa Barbara, Arizona, and Arizona State. UCLA has won all but one of those meets by a margin of at least 35 points.
Key performers to this point of the season have included sophomore Claire Grover, freshman Sophia Kosturos, freshman Rachel Rhee, senior Kenisha Liu, senior Amy Okada, sophomore Ella Kirschke, and freshman Daniella Hawkins.
On the diving side, junior Ruby Neave was the Pac-12 Diver of the Month for November after standout performances against the Arizona schools and at the Trojan Diving Invitational. Both Neave and junior Alice Yanovsky have already qualified for NCAA Zone Championships.
