Darkness Halts Play at Southwestern Invitational

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. - After an opening-round 298 (+10) on Monday at the North Ranch Country Club, the Bruins sit in seventh (+16) with a few holes left in their second round, as play was halted due to darkness. The second round will resume at 7:20 a.m. on Tuesday, which will be followed by the start of the third round around 9:45 a.m.
Junior Eddy Lai is the top Bruin so far, as he is tied for 20th (+3). He shot an opening-round, 2-under 70, making five birdies on No. 12, 15, 17, 4 and 6 with three bogeys. Lai has one birdie in his second round, which came on the 16th, to go with six bogeys.
Sophomore Bryan Wiyang Teoh is tied for 25th (+4). He posted a 4-over 76 in the morning on two birdies (No. 15 and 4) and six bogeys. In his second round, Teoh had posted four birdies (No. 12, 15, 2 and 6) and four bogeys. Junior Devon Bling is tied for 33rd (+5). He shot an opening-round, 4-over 76, recording two birdies on No. 12 and 4 and six bogeys. Bling has three birdies so far in his second round on No. 14, 15 and 2, adding a bogey and a triple.
Senior Hidetoshi Yoshihara (+6, T-37) posted the lone eagle of the day for the Bruins on the par-5 15th in round one, as he shot a 5-over 77. He added two birdies (No. 4 and 6), five bogeys and two doubles. Yoshihara has three birdies (No. 10, 12 and 15) and four bogeys in his second round. Freshman Tony Hendricks (+8, T-44) shot a 4-over 76 in round one, making four birdies (No. 15, 3, 6 and 9) and eight bogeys. He has one birdie (No. 15), three bogeys and a double so far in his second round. Sophomore Ahmed Ali, playing as an individual, is tied for 68th (+20). He made one birdie (No. 12), seven bogeys and three doubles in his first-round 84 (+12), and has a birdie (No. 15) in his second round, four bogeys, a double and a triple.
