SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - Sophomore Emma Spitz ended day two of the Sun Devil Winter Classic in the same spot she finished day one, tied for first, as just one round remains at the Talking Stick Golf Club.
As a team, the Bruins are tied for third, posting the third-best round of the day on Tuesday with a 5-over 293. UCLA is at 11-over 587 through 36 holes.
Despite not making a birdie in her second round, Spitz was still under par. The sophomore holed out an eagle on the par-4 11th, making one bogey and 16 pars in a 1-under 71. She is at 4-under 140 after 36 holes and tied with Arizona State's Linn Grant for the top spot.
Sophomore Annabel Wilson is tied for 14th at 2-over 146 after a 2-over 74 on Tuesday. She made a pair of birdies on the par-3 13th and par-5 16th holes, adding four bogeys. Sophomore Emilie Paltrinieri is tied for 20th at 4-over 148. She shot a 3-over 75 in her second round, posting a birdie on the par-5 fifth and four bogeys.
Junior Simar Singh had the second-best round of the day for the Bruins, recording a 1-over 73. She made birdies on the par-5 fifth and 14th holes and the par-4 12th to go with two bogeys and a double. Singh stands in a tie for 39th (+9, 153) through two rounds. Junior Phoebe Yue is 53rd (+18, 162), shooting an 8-over 80 with a birdie on the par-5 fifth, seven bogeys and a double.
The Bruins will begin their final round on Wednesday at 8:57 a.m. MT/7:57 a.m. PT off the first tee in the order of Yue, Singh, Paltrinieri, Wilson and Spitz. Live scoring will be available here.
