SAN DIEGO, Calif.ย โ Freshman Sienna Green scored a game- and season-high four goals to lead the No. 3 UCLA women's water polo team (7-0) to a big win over No. 24 CSUNย (2-1), 21-3, in the Bruins' first game of the Triton Invitationalย at Canyonview Aquatic Center on Friday afternoon.
Aย total of 12 Bruins got into the scoring column in the victory, including a hat trick by sophomore Emma Lineback.
Graduate student Georgia Phillips got the start in the cage and played the first half, registering eight saves and one steal while giving up two goals. Junior Sydney Chiang came on in relief and played the second half, tallying two saves and one steal while allowing one goal.

The Bruins opened up with a 4-0ย lead in the first quarter. Lineback opened the scoring with a power play goal (7:01) that was assisted by Hannah Palmer. Then Palmer scored from the front court (5:55) to put UCLA up 2-0. The Bruins got back-to-back counter goals from graduate student Val Ayala (3:23) and sophomore Nicole Struss (0:49) to end the scoring in the period.
UCLA won the second period 5-2, to take a 9-2 lead into the break. CSUN scored the first two goals of the second period (7:15 and 6:41) to trim the Bruins' lead to 4-2. But UCLA would score five unanswered goalย to end the scoring in the second quarter. Green scored the first goal in the run from two meters (5:08)ย and the last goal on a counter (1:59). Sophomore Molly Renner scored on a counter (4:19) and Palmer netted her second from two meters (3:45). Junior Malia Allen scored her first of the game from the front court (2:30).
The Bruins dominated the third quarter 5-0ย to build a 14-2 advantageย heading into the final stanza. Green opened the scoring in the third with back-to-back goals at two meters (7:40 and 7:04) to complete her hat trick and net her fourth goal of the game. Freshman Anna Pearson followed with a goal from set (3:13) and freshman Taylor Smith found the back of the net from the front court (1:26). Lineback then ended the scoring in the third with her second goal of the game on a power play (0:20).
UCLA won the fourth quarter, 7-1, to provide the 21-3 final. Freshman Genoa Rossi opened the scoring in the fourth with a strike from the front court (7:42), followed by a counter goal from Lineback that completed her hat trick (6:29). Freshman Carly McMurray found the back of the net from the front court (4:48) and Pearson scored her second of the contest from two meters (4:08) to put UCLA up 18-2. After a goal by CSUN (3:33), Renner scored her second of the game from the front court (3:18) to provide an immediate answer. Senior Fiona Kuesisย scored her first of the game on a counter (2:42) and then senior Brooke Doten scored her first of the game (0:59) on a power playย to end the scoring in the game.

Tatiana Smeltzer, Tatum Scarry, and Anna Pal each scored one goal to lead CSUN in scoring. UC San Diego did not provide goalie stats.
The Bruins return to action tomorrow when they take on No. 18 UC San Diego in the quarterfinals of the Triton Invitational at 9:50ย a.m. PT.
