SAN JOSE, Calif.ย โ€“ No. 4 UCLA (13-4, 2-1 MPSF) put an end to a three-game skid with an impressive 17-7 win on Sunday afternoon at No. 20 San Jose State (12-12, 0-1 MPSF)ย at SRAC Pool.

Nine different Bruins got into the scoring column, led by a season-high-tying four goals from freshman Sienna Green. She added an assist to pace the Bruin attack with five points. Graduate student Ava Johnson (one goal, three assists) and freshman Taylor Smith (three goals and one assist) finished with four points. It marked the third hat trick of the season for both Smith and Green.

Redshirt senior Georgia Phillips got the start in the cage and played the first half, recording six saves and two steals while allowing two scores. Junior Sydney Chiang played the second half and was credited with two saves and one steal while giving up five goals.

UCLA got off to a slow start, leading 2-1 at the end of the first period with Smith and Green both finding the back of the net. The Bruins built a halftime lead of 6-2 after winning the second quarter, 4-1. Smith and Green each scored their second goal of the game in the period with graduate student Val Ayala and freshman Anna Pearson adding one goal apiece.

The Bruins won the third quarter, 4-2, to take a 10-4 lead into the final period. Graduate student Katrina Drake and sophomore Molly Renner each scored one goal in the third quarter while freshman Lily Gess scored back-to-back goals.

The Bruins' offense exploded for seven goals in the fourth period to provide the 17-7 final. Drake and Renner each scored their second goals of the game while Smith scored her third and Green netted her third and fourth goals of the game in the final stanza. Junior Malia Allen and Johnson each scored a goal in the fourth quarter.

The Bruins return to action next week at the LMU Invitational when they take on Princeton at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Mar. 18, and then face Loyola Marymount at 4:00 p.m.
