
No. 24 UCLA Sets Two School Records in Dual at No. 3 Stanford

PALO ALTO, Calif. - The No. 24 UCLA Swim and Dive team broke two school records in their dual meet against No. 3 Stanford on Friday afternoon. The final score on the day was Stanford 188, UCLA 111.
In the first event of the day, the Bruins' A team broke the school record in the 200 medley relay. The team of Fay Lustria, Eva Carlson, Emma Harvey, and Ana Jih-Schiff won the event with a record-breaking time of 1:36.36. The previous record in the event was set in 2023 with a time of 1:36.64.
Junior Ashley Kolessar was the first Bruin to finish on the podium in an individual event, earning second place in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 9:49.36.
Harvey picked up UCLA's first individual event win in the 100 backstroke with a time of 52.72. Lustria finished in second place with a time of 53.27.
Freshman Karolina Piechowicz then broke the second school record of the day in the 100 Breaststroke, winning the event in 59.30. Carlson and Jih-Schiff followed in second and third place respectively with times of 59.97 and 1:00.12. Piechowicz's time of 59.30 was .07 seconds under the previous record of 59.37 set by Claire Grover in 2023.
Senior Mia Chang touched in second place in the 200 butterfly in 1:58.63. Senior Paige MacEachern finished in third place in the event with a time of 1:58.73. In the 50 free, senior Gizem Guvenc earned third place at 23.09.
UCLA's Eden Cheng placed third in the 1-meter diving competition with a score of 283.95. Cheng went on to finish first in the 3-meter diving competition, winning the event with a score of 314.50.
Back in the pool Chang earned her second podium finish of the day in the 200 Backstroke, earning third place in the event with a time of 1:57.42. Jih-Schiff then followed suit in the 200 Butterfly, finishing in third place at 2:09.53.
Kolessar continued to excel in the distance events, placing third in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:48.79. Harvey finished on the podium once again in the 100 butterfly, earning second place with a time of 52.81.
In the final individual event of the meet, MacEachern took second place in the 200 IM in 1:58.29. Jih-Schiff finished the 200 IM in third place at 1:58.70.
UCLA finished the day's competition with a third place finish in the 200 freestyle relay. The A team of Guvenc, Harvey, Lustria, and Carlson combined for a time of 1:30.93.
