Bruins Drop 1-0 Contest at Washington

October 04, 2025 | Women's Soccer

Seattle, Wash. - No. 4 UCLA's eight-game unbeaten streak came to an end after a 1-0 loss at Washington on Saturday evening. The loss was UCLA's first in conference play this year and dropped the Bruins to second in the Big Ten standings, one point behind the Huskies.

The Huskies (7-1-5, 4-0-2) scored the game's only goal at 18:13. After a shot by Alex Buck was blocked, Jadyn Holdenried took a long-distance shot from just beyond the box. UCLA goalkeeper Daphne Nakfoor got a piece of it but was unable to stop the hard shot from going in for the eventual game-winner.

Washington's defense held strong against the Bruins, allowing no shots in the first half and just five shots in all. UCLA's first shot did not come until the 48th minute, when Emma Egizii had her shot blocked, and its first corner kick came in the 53rd minute. Bella Winn recorded a shot on goal in the 59th minute, a close-range shot that was saved by Washington goalkeeper Tanner Ijams.

Kara Croone also recorded a shot on goal in the 73rd minute, getting ahead of the defense but getting saved by Ijams at the right post. Croone had two other chances late in the game, one shot hitting the crossbar and a follow-up shot being saved by Ijams.

UCLA (8-3-1, 4-1-1) finished with a season-low five shots. Ijams saved three of those shots. Nakfoor made two saves while facing 11 shots.

The Bruins will go back on the road next week, playing at Wisconsin on Thursday and Minnesota on Sunday.
