Solans Ormo Named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week

LOS ANGELES – Sergi Solans Ormo has been named Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday afternoon. The award is Solans Ormo's second of the season.
Solans Ormo recorded his second hat trick of the season in UCLA's 4-2 upset win at No. 15 Washington to close out the regular season on Friday night. The redshirt sophomore now has eight goals and two assists in his last three games played. Solans Ormo becomes the first Bruin since Milan Iloski in 2019 to have multiple hat tricks in a single season.
The Spaniard opened the scoring in the 35th minute, and gave the Bruins a 1-0 advantage. After Washington responded and took a 2-1 lead early in the second half, Solans Ormo got the Bruins back in it with his second goal of the game in the 75th minute. The Spaniard then added UCLA's fourth goal in the 83rd minute to clinch the game for the Bruins.
Solans Ormo's 12 goals on the season put him in a tie for seventh nationally in total goals scored. His 1.75 points per game tally ranks ninth in the country. His 28 total points (12 G, 4A) ranks tied for eighth nationally.
UCLA plays at Maryland in the Big Ten semifinal round on Wednesday. The Bruins and Terrapins will kickoff in the second semifinal at 4 pm PT (7 pm ET) with the game being broadcast on the Big Ten Network.
