Four standout gymnasts have signed with UCLA for the 2027 season, the R.C. Rothman UCLA Head Gymnastics Coach Janelle McDonald announced Wednesday. Joining UCLA next year will be two-time U.S. National Team member Zoey Molomo, Mexican National Team member Michelle Pineda, two-time Development Program National champion Cami Tassone and three-time Development Program Nationals competitor Brooke Katz.
"I am so excited to welcome Zoey, Michelle, Cami and Brooke to the Bruin Family," said McDonald. "Each member of this class brings an incredible gymnastics skillset that will translate well to NCAA competition and will make immediate impacts on our line-ups. The energy and passion these athletes have for becoming Bruins and making their own mark on our program is inspiring, and I cannot wait for them to get to Westwood."
Molomo, who trains at Metroplex Gymnastics, was a member of the 2024 and 2022 U.S. National Teams and competed at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Trials, earning an eighth-place finish on beam. She has won five medals in her career at the Winter Cup, taking gold on vault and bronze on beam in 2025, bronze on vault and uneven bars in 2023, and silver on vault in 2022. She earned a Top 8 all-around finish at the 2022 U.S. Championships and was fifth in the all-around at the 2024 American Classic. Internationally, she won team gold at the 2022 Pan American Championships and team gold and vault silver at the 2022 City of Jesolo Trophy. She also won team silver at the 2025 City of Jesolo Trophy.
"Zoey has an eye-catching presence on the competition floor, and this, with her extensive experience competing on the international scene, will make her one to watch in the NCAA," McDonald said. "Zoey has a fun and vibrant personality that makes her a natural leader in the way she shows up in spaces and cares about the people around her. I am so excited for the positive impact she will make in our program on and off the competition floor for years to come."
Pineda trains with Molomo at Metroplex Gymnastics and is a member of Mexico's National Team. Pineda won four medals with Mexico at the 2024 Pan American Championships, taking gold medals in the all-around and on balance beam and winning silver on floor exercise and bronze in the team competition. She also won bronze on floor at the Antalya World Cup in 2025. Additionally, Pineda has competed at two U.S. Championships (2022 and 2023) and won a pair of medals at the 2023 American Classic - gold on floor and bronze in the all-around.
"Michelle is a beautiful gymnast with excellent execution, lines and grace," McDonald expressed. "She has experience training and competing internationally that makes her a strong and experienced competitor. Michelle has a bright and sweet personality that shines through. She is a determined hard-worker in all she does, and I'm so excited for the impact that she will make on our team culture."
Tassone, who trains at IK Gymnastics, has won two titles at Development Program Nationals, capturing the 2025 vault title and 2024 all-around crown. She was also the all-around and uneven bars runner-up in 2025 and finished in second place on floor and third place on bars and beam in 2024. Tassone won the all-around, vault, bars and beam at the 2025 Region 5 Championship and swept the Level 10 State Championships, winning the all-around with a career-high 39.100 and scoring a 10.0 on vault. She also competed in the 2025 Nastia Liukin Cup and won silver on vault and floor and bronze in the all-around. In her career, she has won seven Level 10 Regional titles and nine State titles.
"Cami comes to us as one of the top level 10 competitors in the country," stated McDonald. "She boasts incredible execution with her stacked gymnastics skill set, which will transition seamlessly to the NCAA competition floor. Cami is an extremely positive and friendly person, making her an athlete that will add to our team culture from day one. She has a love for gymnastics, people and life that is infectious, and I cannot wait for her energy to be with us every day in Westwood."
Katz is a Level 10 gymnast who trains at Flip for Me Gymnastics in Las Vegas. She has qualified for the last three Development Program Nationals, placing fourth on bars and fifth on floor in 2025, sixth on bars and floor in 2024 and fifth on bars in 2023. In 2024, she won her second consecutive uneven bars title and placed second in the all-around at the Level 10 Region 1 Championships. She won the Nevada state title on bars and placed second on beam in 2024 and was second on floor and third on bars in 2023.
"I'm happy to welcome Brooke to the Bruin Family," said McDonald. "She is a determined athlete who works incredibly hard to accomplish the goals she sets out for. Her steady rise in gymnastics has been inspiring to watch. We first met Brooke at our UCLA Camps, and it was clear from our first interaction that she loved UCLA and was passionate about becoming a Bruin. Brooke is kind, sweet and easily makes others feel supported and seen. She will be an asset to our team culture and Bruin pride while making a strong impact with her beautiful gymnastics as well."
