Women’s Golf Signs Michelle Xing
November 12, 2025 | Women's Golf
LOS ANGELES – The UCLA women's golf program has received a signed National Letter of Intent (NLI) from Michelle Xing, as announced Wednesday by head coach Alicia Um Holmes.
Xing is a two-time American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) All-American from Richmond Hill High School in Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada.
"The very first time we watched Michelle, she holed out for eagle on a par 4, so needless to say, she left a lasting impression!" Um Holmes said. "And after our first call, Coach Erynne and I knew that she would be a great fit for our team and be additive to our team culture. She's a competitor who's intrinsically motivated in everything she does, and has the results that show her great effort.
"At just 17 years old, she's won the Canadian Women's Amateur Championship, represented Team Canada at the World Team Championship, made history as the youngest winner at the ORORO PGA Women's Championship of Canada and is a two-time AJGA All-American. She's an excellent student and artist and on top of all this, she's an even better person. Michelle's everything we look for in a UCLA student-athlete and we can't wait to have her join the team!"
Xing claimed the Duchess of Connaught Gold Cup at the 111th Canadian Women's Amateur Championships on July 25, 2025 with a score of -2, 286 (73-71-71-71), besting the runner-up by four strokes. Xing began the tournament as a 16 year old, turning 17 on the day of round three. The field consisted of 156 of the world's best female amateur golfers. With the victory, Xing earned an exemption into the 2025 CPKC Women's Open, an LPGA event, where she missed the cut at +8. Xing also earned a spot at the 2025 U.S. Women's Amateur at Bandon Dunes where she narrowly missed the cut.
Xing was Team Canada's top golfer at the 2025 World Team Championships in the race for the Espirito Santo Trophy at the Tanah Merah Country Club in Singapore. She tied for 18th -3, 285 with round scores of 72-73-68-72.
In July 2024, Xing became the youngest winner of the ORORO PGA Women's Championship of Canada at 15 years old. The previous youngest winner was Brooke Henderson, who has since won 14 LPGA tournaments and ranked as high as fifth in the Rolex Women's World Golf Rankings. Xing made a 25-foot birdie putt on the last hole at TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley to cap off a two-stroke win, carding rounds of 70-64-70. The field included 66 professionals and amateurs.
Xing secured back-to-back AJGA victories in Spring 2024 at the Greenwood Junior Championship (-3, 213) and Will Lowery Junior Championship (-8, 208).
Xing is ranked 138th in the World Amateur Golf Rankings and 32nd in the Rolex AJGA Rankings at the time of her signing.
