Crossley Earns Big Ten Freshman of the Week Award

November 12, 2025 | Women's Tennis

ROSEMONT, Ill. โ€“ Mayu Crossley of the UCLA women's tennis team was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week for matches played Nov. 5-11, it was announced Wednesday. The award is her first since enrolling as a Bruin in September.

Crossley earned her first career NCAA Championships berth with a strong showing at ITA West Sectionals in Seattle. The Tokyo native won three singles matches in three days, starting with a three-set decision over No. 109 Charlotte Keitel of San Diego.

Crossley went on to beat Shachf Lieberman of UC Santa Barbara and Tilde Jagare of Oregon in straight-set results to reach the semifinals and qualify for the NCAA tournament later this month. The remaining singles matches were canceled. Crossley also teamed with Bianca Fernandez to win a doubles match.

This is UCLA's second Big Ten women's tennis weekly award of 2025-26. Ahmani Guichard was voted Player of the Week in September following her performance at the ITA All-American Championships. Bruin Kate Fakih won a conference-best five Freshman of the Week honors in 2024-25.
