No. 17 Women's Tennis Posts Road Shutout of No. 11 Stanford
January 31, 2026 | Women's Tennis
STANFORD, Calif. – The 17th-ranked UCLA women's tennis team turned in a dominant performance Saturday, beating No. 11 Stanford 7-0 at Arrillaga Tennis Center – Taube Pavilion. Dating back to 1986, UCLA had posted just one shutout of Stanford in which all matches were completed (2021).
Mayu Crossley was a standout performer for the Bruins (3-2), posting her second top-20 singles victory in as many days and helping to clinch the doubles point in comeback fashion. Also notching two-win days were Ahmani Guichard and Anne-Christine Lutkemeyer. The Cardinal (2-3) forced third sets in three singles contests, all of which were finished after the result was clinched.
Lutkemeyer and Guichard teamed for a dominant doubles display on Court 2, where they surrendered just one game to Alyssa Ahn and Tianmei Wang. Stanford seemed to have an answer on Court 3, where Sein Myoung/Morgan Shaffer jumped out to a 4-0 lead versus Crossley/Kayla Chung. The UCLA freshmen proved that was not enough, though, seizing the final six games to clinch the point. The top-court match was in a tiebreaker before being abandoned.
The Bruins collected four singles first sets. Crossley, who defeated No. 9 Berta Passola Folch of California in three sets Friday, downed No. 18 Alyssa Ahn by a 6-3, 6-1 margin Saturday. Next to finish was Guichard, who also turned in her second Court 5 singles victory of the weekend on Court 5. She bested Sein Myoung 6-1, 6-4 in the latest one.
Center's second clinching win of the season and fourth of her career came in a 7-5, 6-2 performance opposite Emma Sun on Court 6. Lutkemeyer then bounced back to beat No. 67 Monika Ekstrand 1-6, 6-1, 6-2 on Court 1.
Completing a perfect Northern California trip for herself was Bianca Fernandez, who took down Wang 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 on Court 4. Fernandez has now won all three of her finished dual matches in 2026. A top-80 matchup on Court 3 was last to finish, with No. 75 Fakih topping No. 77 Caroline Driscoll 4-6, 6-4, 6-3.
UCLA next takes the court Saturday, Feb. 14, when it welcomes San Diego to Los Angeles Tennis Center. First serve is scheduled for 12 p.m. PT.
