No. 3 UCLA Overpowers No. 14 Tennessee in Top-15 Matchup, 99-77

November 30, 2025 | Women's Basketball

LOS ANGELES โ€“ No. 3 UCLA started its four-game home stand with a blowout win over No. 14 Tennessee, 99-77, on Sunday afternoon.
ย
The Bruins move to 8-1 on the season, with four out of five starters reaching double figures against the Lady Volunteers (5-2, 0-0 SEC).ย
ย
Senior Gabriela Jaquez scored a season-high 29 points โ€“ one off from tying her career-high โ€“ while adding three assists and three rebounds. She made a career-high five three-pointers while shooting 83 percent from behind the line.
ย
Senior Kiki Rice finished with 20 points and 11 rebounds, earning her 14th career 20-point game and tying her career-high in rebounds. Graduate student Charlisse Leger-Walker set a season high with her 11 assists.
ย
The Bruins started the game fast, with senior Lauren Betts scoring in the paint on the first possession of the game. After two baskets from Tennessee, Jaquez took over, grabbing a steal and crossing her opponent to hit the three off the fast break. Jaquez's first-quarter dominance continued after another Tennessee turnover at the 4:50 mark, hitting another three-point shot.
ย
Freshman Lena Bilić made her presence known in the first quarter, completing a three-point play to complement her two rebounds. When the Lady Volunteers responded with a three, Rice answered back to give the Bruins three of their own.
ย
Jaquez finished with nine points after the first, shooting perfectly from distance. UCLA closed the quarter with a 26-21 lead.
ย

ย
Graduate student Gianna Kneepkens scored the first basket for the Bruins to start the second, hitting a three from a Lauren Betts assist. Rice added two more to the scoreboard shortly after, driving to the basket for a left-handed finish. After a few baskets that gave Tennessee a brief lead, Jaquez went on a run, scoring the next seven points for UCLA and give the Bruins a four-point advantage. UCLA finished the quarter strong, with Leger-Walker adding two points to give the team a ten-point lead, followed by a block in the paint made by Bilić to seal the half.
ย
UCLA went into halftime with a 49-39 lead. Jaquez finished the half leading all scorers with 19 points (career-high in one half) and four made threes (tying career-high). UCLA shot 51.5 percent from the field compared to Tennessee's 35.0 percent. The Bruins also shot 54.5 percent from the three-point line, while the Lady Vols shot 42.1 percent. UCLA outscored its opponent 22-10 in the paint, 4-1 in steals, and 4-2 in blocks.
ย

ย
The Bruins extended their lead in the third quarter, starting with a shifty layup made by Betts. Following another Tennessee turnover at the 8:35 mark, Kneepkens found a wide-open Leger-Walker to score two. UCLA continued to stand out on defense, with Leger-Walker stealing the ball to force another Tennessee turnover with 6:37 left in the quarter. The Kiwi guard immediately found Jaquez in the paint off the fast break, adding two more points for the Bruins and increasing the lead to 12. Despite the Lady Vols calling a timeout to regroup, UCLA still scored the next basket, with Kneepkens hitting another three. The Bruins concluded the quarter with strong pressure, going on an 11-3 run in the last 2:20.
ย
Kneepkens and Jaquez scored a combined 17 points in the quarter, with Kneepkens making three baskets from behind the arc. Rice grabbed three rebounds to complete a third-quarter double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Leger-Walker dished out six assists to accompany her two points in the quarter.
ย
The Bruins finished the third with a 76-56 lead.
ย

ย
Tennessee began the fourth quarter on a hot start, scoring 10 straight points and forcing three UCLA turnovers. Graduate student Angela Dugalić sparked the momentum back in the Bruins' favor, starting at the 7:41 mark to score six of UCLA's following eight points. Rice added a steal to her performance, pulling up for a jumper to add two. Dugalić continued making an impact, blocking a Tennessee shot after and then grabbing the steal, only to add two more points for the Bruins after.
ย
The Bruins pushed the lead to 25 with 1:27 left in the game after Kneepkens completed a three-point play by getting the foul when finishing a basket in the paint.
ย
Rice excelled in the fourth, finishing the quarter shooting a perfect 4-for-4 from the field to add nine points to her total. Dugalić also shot perfectly in the fourth quarter (3-3) while recording one steal and a block.
ย

ย
The Bruins finished shooting 58.5 percent from the field and 58.8 percent from three. They finished with a season-high 13 steals while forcing Tennessee into 20 turnovers.
