HONOLULU -- No. 3 UCLA (5-1) split a pair of top 10 duals on the final day of competition at the Outrigger Duke Kahanamoku Beach Classic with a 3-2 win over No. 7 LMU (5-1) and a 3-2 setback to No. 1 USC (3-2) on Saturday at Queen's Beach. By virtue of defeating LMU, the only other team that had a 5-1 record at the tournament, the Bruins were crowned the champions for the fourth straight year in Hawaii. With the third-straight win over the Lions, the Bruins improved to 20-5 overall against LMU. UCLA fell to 20-28 all-time against the Trojans after dropping its third straight to USC.

Peri Brennan earned the Aloha Award at the conclusion of the tournament. The Aloha Award is given to the student-athlete that is the most spirited through the duration of the event.

In the first dual against LMU, the Lions went up 1-0 on court five as Tannon Rosenthal and G. Poletti Corrales defeated UCLA's freshman Harper Cooper and senior Sophie Moore, 21-12, 23-21.

UCLA tied it up with a win on court two as graduate student Peri Brennan and senior Natalie Myszkowski took down Chloe Hooker and Anna Pellora in straight sets, 23-21, 21-16.

LMU would regain the lead with a three-set win by Magdalena Rabitsch and Isabelle Reffel over the Bruin tandem of freshman Alexa Fernandez and graduate student Tessa Van Winkle 21-18, 17-21, 15-5.

Freshman Sally Perez and junior Maggie Boyd tied it up at 2-2 with a win on court one over LMU's Michelle Shaffer and Vilhelmiina Prihti in a three-set thriller, 19-21, 21-19, 15-13.

UCLA's redshirt sophomore tandem of Kenzie Brower and Ensley Alden clinched the win on court three with a 19-21, 21-19, 15-12 win over Abbey Thorup and Lisa Luini.

In the dual against the Trojans, UCLA quickly fell behind 2-0 as Madison White and Zoey Henson won in straight sets (21-6, 24-22) over Perez and Boyd on court one and Delaney Karl and Kaileigh Truslow won in straight sets  (21-18, 21-19) over Cooper and Moore on court five.

UCLA started to make a comeback when Fernandez paired with redshirt freshman Kaley Mathews, who was making her collegiate debut, to take down USC's Madison Goellner and Ella Larkin, 21-15, 21-19, on court four to get UCLA its first point of the dual.

Then UCLA's court two pair of Brennan and Myszkowski defeated Kennedy Coakley and Mabyn Thomas, 21-14, 23-21, to tie the dual at 2-2, setting up a winner-take-all match on court three.

USC's duo of Ashley Pater and Maya Gessner defeated Alden and Brower in an epic three-set match, 21-13, 16-21, 17-15 on court three to seal the win for the Trojans.
