
No. 3 UCLA MVB Falls in Four Sets at No. 1 Long Beach State

LONG BEACH, Calif. – The No. 3 UCLA men's volleyball program fell 3-1 to No. 1 Long Beach State on Friday night on the campus of Long Beach State in front of a sold-out crowd of 4,420. Set scores from the match were 21-25, 25-20, 16-25, and 22-25.
Zach Rama led the Bruins with 15 kills on the night, while Cooper Robinson added another 10 blocks and six digs for the Bruins.
In the first set, Long Beach State rushed out to a 10-8 lead before and then extended their lead to 23-16. The Bruins then took five of the following six points to make it 24-21 before the Beach put the set away, 25-21.
The sides traded points in the second set as neither squad built more than a two-point lead as UCLA took a 9-7 lead partway through the set courtesy of a Cameron Thorne kill and a David Decker ace.
The Bruins then extended their lead to 12-9 when Matthew Edwards hit one off the Long Beach block for the point.
Later on in the set, the Bruins went three up again, 21-18, before earning the second set 25-21, courtesy of a kill from Rama off an assist from Rowan.
As for the third set, the Beach bounced back earning the set 25-16 andok a 2-1 lead in the match.
The Beach started the fourth set strongly before the Bruins settled into the set. Long Beach took a 12-8 lead before the Bruins earned three points in a row to make it 12-11.
Long Beach opened up a 23-18 lead before the Bruins closed the gap to 24-21 with Andrew Rowan at the service line, before the Beach ended the match on the next point from a UCLA service error, 25-21, and the match 3-1.
