No. 25 UCLA to Play at Darius Rucker Intercollegiate on Golf Channel

LOS ANGELES – The No. 25-ranked UCLA women's golf team will play at the highly-competitive Darius Rucker Intercollegiate at Long Cove Golf Club at Hilton Head Island, S.C. from March 3-5. Including UCLA, 12 of the 17 teams in the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate field are ranked in the top 25 of the latest Clippd poll.
The three-day, 54-hole stroke play event will be televised on Golf Channel. Fans can watch live coverage of each round from 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. (PT). Golf Channel's "Golf Today" show will be previewing each round of the tournament from 9:30-11:30 a.m.
"The Darius Rucker is one of the strongest fields we play in all year and we are beginning to put the pieces of our puzzle together," said UCLA head coach Alicia Um Holmes. "Coming off a solid week, with all our players finishing in the top 11, we hope to keep the momentum going this week at Long Cove Club. The team is in good spirits and my hope is that they continue sticking to their routines and keeping the belief in themselves high."

The Bruins won their first tournament of the season at the 13th edition of the Bruin Wave Invitational, which was hosted by UCLA from Feb. 24-25 at Valencia Country Club. UCLA registered a team score of +6, 870 to win by 22 strokes over runner-up Baylor. Fiorellini, Le and Liu finished 1-2-3 on the individual leaderboard in the 72-golfer field.
Fiorellini secured the first medal of her collegiate career and was the only golfer in the field to finish under par at -9, 207. Fiorellini concluded the final round with birdies on four of her final six holes to improve to 9-under (69-68-70) for the tournament and etch her name into the Bruin Wave Invitational record book with the lowest score in tournament history. Her finish bested Pepperdine golfer Danielle Kang's previous mark of -8, 208 set in 2010.
Fiorellini, competing in her first event of the spring, opened the tournament with the first two sub-70 scores of her collegiate career. She posted a bogey-free 69 in round one with birdies on each of her last two holes on 17 and 18 and followed that performance with five more birdies and just one bogey in round two.
Le, competing as an individual, finished runner-up to Fiorellini with a score of +1, 217 (73-74-70) marking her best placement since arriving to UCLA.

Fiorellini and Le are tied for the team lead with a 72.2 scoring average over 13 rounds apiece heading into the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate. Fiorellini is off to a hot start this spring after finishing under par in each of her three rounds at the Bruin Wave Invitational last week.
All nine UCLA players have been penciled into the starting lineup in at least one tournament this season. Vo leads the Bruins with 19 rounds played, averaging 74.4 strokes per round.

Fiorellini is tabbed at No. 22 in the latest World Amateur Golf Rankings, which doesn't include her latest medal at the Bruin Wave Invitational on Feb. 25. She is the top-ranked Italian amateur and ranked seventh among all Europeans. Le is the next-highest-ranked Bruin in the lineup at No. 205 in the WAGR.
Canales, Fiorellini to Compete at ANWA
Fiorellini and Caroline Canales will compete at the sixth edition of the Augusta National Women's Amateur (ANWA) this April 2-5 in Georgia. The first and second rounds of the ANWA will be held at Champions Retreat Golf Club. A cut will take place after 36 holes, advancing the leading 30 players and ties to the final round at Augusta National Golf Club. The ANWA, one of the women's golf's premier amateur events, will be nationally televised on Golf Channel.
This marks Fiorellini's second straight ANWA appearance and the first for Canales. Fiorellini, the top Italian amateur in the World Amateur Golf Rankings, tied for 30th at 9-over (67-78-80) at last year's event.
Campos, Canales Depart UCLA for Pro Ranks
Three-year UCLA letterwinners Zoe Antoinette Campos and Caroline Canales declared they will be embarking on the start of their professional golf careers in the middle of the 2024-25 college season. Campos leaves UCLA as one of the most accomplished golfers in program history, being named a two-time WGCA First Team All-American and All-Pac-12 First Team selection. Campos finished her career tied for fourth program history in wins (6), fifth in under par rounds (43), eighth in scoring average (72.52) and tied for ninth in top-10 finishes (19).
In Campos' last full season, she led UCLA with a 70.7 scoring average and four medals to help the Bruins to a runner-up finish at the 2024 NCAA Championships in Um Holmes' first year as head coach.
Canales was the Bruins' second-best golfer in last year's run to the NCAA title match, being named a WGCA Honorable Mention All-American and ranking second on the team with a 72.6 scoring average. The Calabasas, Calif. native finished her UCLA career ranked 12th in program history with a 73.11 scoring average over 111 rounds plated. Canales claimed one medal and 15 top-10 finishes in 40 tournaments.
Preseason Recognition
Three UCLA women's golfers hauled in several preseason All-America accolades while the team was listed in all three major preseason polls. Campos was a consensus Preseason First Team All-American according to both Golfweek and Golf Channel. Fiorellini was listed on the Second Team by Golfweek and Third Team by Golf Channel, and Canales was tabbed to Golf Channel's Third Team.
The Bruins started the 2024-25 season ranked No. 3 in the WGCA Preseason Coaches Poll and No. 4 in both Golfweek and Golf Channel's Preseason Top 25.
Summer Success
Vo won the 58th California Women's Amateur at The Peninsula Golf and Country Club in San Mateo on July 27, earning her an automatic exemption at U.S. Women's Amateur. Vo defeated Amelia Garibaldi (Fresno State) in the championship match, 2&1, with the help of an excellent approach shot on the par-4 17th which fell two feet from the pin to set up the title-clinching putt. Vo's title marked the second straight year and the fourth time ever a Bruins' golfer won the California Women's Amateur. Previous winners include Kate Villegas (2023), Ty Akabane (2018), Cindy Scholefield (1986) and Mary Enright (1980).
Vo and Campos made their second and fifth U.S. Women's Amateur appearances, respectively, at Southern Hills Country Club in Oklahoma in August. Campos placed third in the stroke play portion with scores of 72-68 (-2) before being ousted in the Round of 64 by Bailey Shoemaker (USC), 1UP.

UCLA officially joined the Big Ten Conference Aug. 2, ushering in a new era in the Bruins' storied and illustrious athletic tradition. UCLA, along with previous conference foes Oregon, USC and Washington, have moved to an 18-team Big Ten Conference with a footprint spanning from the Pacific to the Atlantic.
UCLA's approaching membership in the Big Ten Conference was initially announced more than two years ago, on June 30, 2022.
"The day has finally come," said Martin Jarmond, The Alice and Nahum Lainer Family Director of Athletics. "After two years of planning and preparation, UCLA is proud and excited to join the Big Ten Conference. I am grateful for the energy and effort that has been put into shaping this pivotal move by our hard-working staff members, as well as our coaches and student-athletes. The investments we have made into our programs and student-athletes over the past 24 months have set us up to continue to compete at the elite level that defines UCLA Athletics."
