March 22, 2025 | Women's Golf

LOS ANGELES – UCLA women's golf coaching great Carrie Forsyth was inducted into the Southern California Golf Association (SCGA) Hall of Fame on Tuesday, March 18 at Pacific Palms Resort in Industry, Calif.

"I can't explain the chills I got when I got the call from the SoCal Golf Hall of Fame," Forsyth said. "I have great memories here at Industry Hills as I've spent my entire golf existence in Southern California. I am so grateful to everyone who made this honor so special. Success doesn't occur in isolation and I wouldn't be here without the support of my family, assistant coaches and players."

Forsyth led the Bruins to two NCAA titles (2004 and 2011), three runner-up finishes, nine NCAA Regional Championships and 20 NCAA Championship appearances in her 24 seasons as head coach from 1999-2023. With Forsyth, the Bruins have finished top three at the NCAA Championships on eight occasions, and 17 of her golfers have placed top 10 as individuals at nationals. Forsyth's five Pac-12 Championships rank second in conference history.

In 2023, Forsyth was inducted into the UCLA Athletic Hall of Fame, 12 years after her induction into the WGCA Hall of Fame.

Forsyth needed just five seasons to win her first national title in 2004. From that point on, she sustained unprecedented success within the program with eight straight top three finishes at both the Pac-12 Championships and NCAA Regionals between 2004-11. She was named Golfweek National Coach of the Year in 2011 and the WGCA National Coach of the Year in 2014 after the Bruins claimed their third NCAA Regionals victory. One of the most successful coaches in conference history, Forsyth has been named the Pac-12 Coach of the Year six times in her career, which ranks most all-time.

Forsyth has produced two ANNIKA Award winners, which is given annually to the top female Division I collegiate golfer, in Alison Lee (2014) and Bronte Law (2016), as well as two PING WGCA Player of the Year honorees in Law (2016) and Lilia Vu (2018). Fifteen UCLA golfers have hauled in 28 WGCA First-Team All-America awards under Forsyth's tutelage.

Forsyth has guided dozens of Bruins into the professional ranks. Current LPGA Tour stars that have been coached by Forsyth include Law, Lee, Vu, Patty Tavatanakit, Ryann O'Toole and Mariajo Uribe. Three of Forsyth's golfers have won a total of four LPGA Major events (Melissa "Mo" Martin, Tavatanakit and Vu).

A former player at UCLA, Forsyth was a walk-on and competed at the Pac-10 and NCAA Championships her freshman season before earning a scholarship by her sophomore year.

Forsyth joined Foster "Bud" Bradley, Steve Horrell, Gary McCord and Stan Wood in the 2025 SCGA Hall of Fame class.

Each year since 1984, the SCGA and Southern California PGA (SCPGA) has celebrated individuals who have impacted the game of golf in the region with the Southern California Golf Hall of Fame. This program shines a light on those who have influenced the game of golf in the region by recognizing the inductees from each association and identifying new members who helped transform and shape the Southern California golf landscape.

Forsyth is the first member from the Bruins women's golf program to be honored in the SCGA Hall of Fame and joins Eddie Merrins (Class of 1990) and Corey Pavin (Class of 2014) as one of three people affiliated with UCLA to be enshrined.
