Women’s Golf Clinches NCAA Tournament Berth with 7th-Place Finish at Big Ten Championships

HAVRE DE GRACE, Md. – The UCLA women's golf team placed seventh (+15, 879) with round scores of 297-291-291 in its first-ever Big Ten Championships at Bulle Rock Golf Club in Havre de Grace, Md. Sunday afternoon.
With the seventh-place finish, the Bruins ended the regular season with a 65-64-1 record, clinching a spot in the NCAA Tournament. UCLA will discover which NCAA Regional it will be headed to on Wednesday, April 23 during the NCAA Tournament Selection Show at 10 a.m. (PT) on Golf Channel.
Oregon won the Big Ten Championship in its first year in the conference with a score of -12, 852. The Ducks' Kiara Romero claimed medalist honors, defeating the field by three strokes at -7 (71-70-68).
UCLA was led by a pair of top-20 finishes from senior Natalie Vo (+2, T-15) and freshman Angela Liu (+3, T-19). Meghan Royal and Tiffany Le were also steady, tying for 29th at +6. Freshman Maye Huang substituted in the third round for Francesca Fiorellini and turned in a clutch +1, 73.
The Bruins entered the Big Ten Championships with a 54-58-4 record, and due to the new .500 rule in NCAA women's golf, needed to place seventh or better. UCLA did just that, defeating 11 opponents while losing to six to get exactly match the .500 mark.
