Ereño Selected to Compete at 2025 Arnold Palmer Cup

April 29, 2025 | Men's Golf

ORLANDO, Fla. – UCLA senior golfer Pablo Ereño has been selected as one of 48 collegians to rosters for the 2025 Arnold Palmer Cup, as announced live on the Golf Channel on Tuesday.

Ereño, who grew up in Madrid, Spain, has been named to the International Team. He will become the seventh UCLA men's golfer to compete at the event. Last summer, UCLA teammate Omar Morales participated for the International Team at the 2024 Arnold Palmer Cup, hosted in Lahinch, Ireland.

This year's event is scheduled from June 5-7 at Congaree Golf Club in Ridgeland, S.C.

In addition to Morales in 2024, previous UCLA golfers who have competed at the Arnold Palmer Cup include Pedro Figueriedo (Portugal) and Pontus Widegren (Sweden) who competed for the International Team in 2013. Widegren also played in the 2010-12 renditions of the event. Patrick Cantlay (2011), Erik Flores (2009) and Kevin Chappell (2008) all competed for Team USA.

UCLA men's head coach Armen Kirakossian, who was an assistant for Team USA at the Palmer Cup in 2020, has now seen seven of his golfers get selected to a Palmer Cup team in his coaching career. Now in his third year as the Bruins' head coach, Kirakossian helped five golfers reach the stage over his five seasons at Arizona State.

Ereño helped the UCLA men's golf team win the 2025 Big Ten Championships last weekend. He shot 2-under 68 on the final day of competition to help the Bruins secure their first conference title since 2006. In addition, Ereño was honored with the Big Ten Conference's Les Bolstad Award, given to the conference player each season with the lowest stroke average (69.78) during the 2024-25 season.

Ereño's scoring average of 69.78 currently ranks first on UCLA's single-season record list (with a minimum of 20 rounds to qualify). Last season, teammate Omar Morales finished with a scoring average by round of 69.91, which ranked first among all Bruins through the 2024-25 season.

Since 2018, the format of the Arnold Palmer Cup has featured a United States team versus an international team that represents some of the greatest players from around the world. The annual team golf competition typically features some of the best university golfers. The Arnold Palmer Cup feature a Ryder Cup-style competition, with both men's and women's collegiate golfers. Team USA leads the all-time series, 15-12-1.
